Ladyfingers Seeds — Haritha Variety (බණ්ඩක්කා හරිත) — 40-50 high-germination okra seeds for your Sri Lankan home garden. The Haritha variety is prized for its dark green, tender pods that stay slender and non-fibrous even at full size.

Growing season: Year-round cultivation possible in Sri Lanka. Best planted during early Yala (March–April) or after the first Maha rains (October). Germination in 5–7 days.

Climate fit: Excellent in Sri Lanka’s lowland wet zone and dry zone. Performs strongly in Gampaha, Galle, and Jaffna. Tolerates heat up to 35°C.

How to sow: Soak seeds for 6 hours before sowing. Plant 2 cm deep, 45 cm apart in rows 60 cm apart. Direct sowing recommended. Start in seedling trays if starting early.

Care: Full sun and well-drained soil. Water every 2–3 days. Apply Eco Max Bio Bull cow dung pellets at sowing and top-dress with Green Boost chicken manure pellets when plants are 30 cm tall. Pinch off the first few flowers to encourage branching.

Harvest: Begins 50–60 days after sowing. Pick pods at 7–10 cm — daily harvesting keeps plants productive for 3–4 months. Each plant yields 1.5–2 kg of pods.

Culinary use: Bandakka curry with coconut, stuffed okra, deep-fried okra, or in mallun salads. A Sri Lankan staple.
