Cucumber Seeds (පිපිඤ්ඤ) — 30-35 high-quality cucumber seeds. Crisp, hydrating, and refreshing — homegrown cucumbers beat shop-bought every time for flavour and food safety.

Growing season: Plant at the start of Yala (March–April) or Maha (September–October). Avoid the hottest monsoon weeks. Germination in 5–7 days.

Climate fit: Performs in all Sri Lankan lowland and mid-country zones. Excellent in Gampaha, Kalutara, Kandy, and Anuradhapura. Likes warmth but needs water consistency.

How to sow: Soak seeds for 6 hours. Sow 2 cm deep, 50 cm apart along a trellis. Trellising keeps fruits clean and straight, and saves garden space. Vines climb 1.5–2 m.

Care: Full sun, deep loamy soil rich in compost. Water deeply every 2 days — inconsistent watering causes bitter or curled fruit. Feed with Eco Max Bio Bull at sowing, switch to Green Boost at flowering. Mulch heavily.

Harvest: First fruits ready in 55–65 days. Pick when 15–20 cm long and still tender. Daily picking encourages new fruits. Each vine yields 10–15 cucumbers over a 2–3 month period.

Culinary use: Cucumber salad with onion and chilli, raita-style yoghurt sambol, fresh slices with curry rice meals, pickled cucumber, or blended into juice. Cooling and hydrating.
