Green Chilli Seeds (අමු මිරිස්) — 90-100 high-germination green chilli seeds. Miris is the heart of Sri Lankan cooking — every meal needs it. Grow your own and never run out of fresh chillies again.
Growing season: Year-round in Sri Lanka. Best transplanted at the start of Yala (March–April) or Maha (October–November). Germination in 7–14 days.
Climate fit: Adapted to all Sri Lankan zones. Particularly productive in Anuradhapura, Polonnaruwa, Kurunegala, Hambantota, and Monaragala.
How to sow: Start in seedling trays with light potting mix. Sow 0.5 cm deep, keep moist and warm. Transplant after 30–40 days when seedlings are 10–15 cm tall. Space 45 cm apart.
Care: Full sun. Well-drained loamy soil enriched with Eco Max Bio Bull cow dung pellets. Top-dress with Green Boost chicken manure pellets at flowering. Stake plants when fruits start forming — heavy fruit loads bend stems. Water at the base.
Harvest: First chillies ready in 70–90 days. Pick green for milder flavour, or let ripen to red for maximum heat. Each plant produces continuously for 6–9 months. Healthy plants yield 1–2 kg.
Culinary use: Every Sri Lankan dish — pol sambol, lunu miris, curry tempering, fish ambul thiyal, dhal, kottu roti, hoppers, and countless others.
