Pumkin/ වට්ටක්ක Seeds 12-15 nos

Pumpkin Seeds (වට්ටක්ක) — 12-15 vibrant pumpkin seeds that produce sweet, golden-fleshed fruits weighing 3–6 kg each. A Sri Lankan home garden classic for curries, kiribath alternatives, and traditional sweets.

Growing season: Best sown at the start of Yala (March–April) or Maha (September–October). Germination in 5–10 days. Maturity in 100–120 days.

Climate fit: Performs throughout Sri Lanka’s lowland and mid-country zones. Excellent in Polonnaruwa, Anuradhapura, Kurunegala, and Monaragala. Needs warmth and sunshine.

How to sow: Plant 3 seeds per hill, 2 cm deep, thin to the strongest seedling after germination. Hills should be spaced 2 m apart in each direction — vines spread aggressively.

Care: Full sun, deep loamy soil. Water deeply twice a week. Pumpkins are heavy feeders — apply Eco Max Bio Bull at planting, top-dress with Green Boost at flowering, and add Eco Max Lusty when fruits start to swell. Mulch heavily.

Harvest: Pumpkins are ready when the skin is hard and the stem dries. Cure in sun for 1–2 weeks to sweeten and improve storage life (3–6 months in a cool dry place). Each vine yields 3–5 pumpkins.

Culinary use: Pumpkin curry with cashew, traditional Sri Lankan pittu and kiribath sides, pumpkin soup, and Buddhist temple-style vegetable rice. Seeds can be roasted as a snack.
